Have you seen Yahoo's iPad / Tablet homepage? The swipe effect to flip through headlines is impressive. I've seen some work done in jquery (using the cycle plugin + touch wipe plugin) but they all easily recognize the user's signal and then instead of tracking the user's gesture, x-full position animations run.
